About
Welcome to Outdoor Chief
Our aim is to be your go-to companion when it comes to helpful advice for some of today’s best outdoor activities.
Whether it’s garden DIY, climbing a mountain, diving, and sailing, or just hitting the road – we aim to ensure you stay safe while having lots of healthy outdoor fun.
So who are we?
The editorial team here at Outdoor Chief is made up of a number of outdoor enthusiasts. Our interests and experience cover the full range of pursuits that we write about here on the site.
We work remotely, so we are actually based all over the world. This means we are never that far away from doing what we love, whether it being hiking, sailing, gardening, or climbing.
We hope that our enthusiasm comes across in the content that you read here on Outdoor Chief.
And if you have a passion for the outdoors and would like to write about it, we would be very keen to hear from you too; (learn how you can contribute to Outdoor Chief here).
Introducing the team (so far)
Martin Norrish
A sucker for watersports, Martin spent 3 years living in Northern Queensland as a diving instructor in a wonderful picturesque spot called Mission Beach.
Moving back to the UK after living so close to the Great Barrier reef came hard. So much so, it wasn’t long before he was back on the road, with Sydney being the place he currently calls home.
As you might expect, if there’s anything to be said about the Blue, Martin is our man.

Ben Knapp
Growing up on the family farm close to Bridgeport, Nebraska, Ben can boast that he first rode on a tractor when he was just 7 months old. By the time he was 9, he could drive one, and as a teenager, he knew how to take one apart and put it back together again.
Ben oversees our Garden & Road sections; while still living and working in Nebraska no less.

Kraig Osbourne
Residing in Comox Valley, British Columbia (after growing up in Queens, NYC – can you get much of a difference than that!), Kraig spends his time doing what he loves best – adventure sports.
If he can’t climb it, jump off it, row down it, or drive through it – Kraig doesn’t want to know about it.
And he certainly has found his calling in life; working as a guide for an adrenalin sports outfit in the Valley, means he is putting himself in near-death experiences on a daily basis.
Thankfully, he finds time in his busy schedule to write about it for us too.

James Gill
When he is not busy with all that, we can sometimes get him to write the odd article as well.
Currently residing in Croatia, our man Gill has definitely got used to the benefits of living somewhere sunny and slow-paced. It beats where he comes from in Hull, UK that’s for sure.
